Written in 2011 in Response to His Poem to Her in1978
The Scales of Eternity
Our differences are like the two sides of a scale.
We balance each other,
We Compliment each other and strive to be
found weighing in on weightier matters.
Another scale tells a tale that you’ve trimmed
your waist while
Your love and duty to your ancestors spiritual
progression has grown heavier.
We sit in tandem at work on our generations,
you have caught the Spirit of Elijah and
Find joy in linking your generations together.
This delights my soul with sonorous music.
Although you no longer sing to me, your rhythm
comforts me.
You are my metronome.
The Melodies of our lives have become sweeter in
these last years of our mortality.
The Priesthood distills on your life as you give
quiet service as ward mission leader.
Your service to others, the pure love of Christ, is the
splendor of a full-grown rose.
You so improve my life by your love and kind
words of encouragement each day,
Helping me, lifting me, lending your arm to
support me as we walk life’s path
Humming a tune of togetherness.
Our love does blossom like a rose whose full
face turns towards the light of the gospel.
Together, arm in arm, we face eternity
knowing that with God’s grace we can
Prepare a kingdom that can not fail .
Angels sing with joy at our success.
Our differences have become our strengths because of
your patience and love.
We are one continuous whole whose parts have
Created a eternal symphony.
